IDT and Altera Simplify SyncE Compliance for Ethernet Node Designs
Joint Testing Demonstrates SyncE Compliance for Altera’s 1G/10Gb Ethernet Core IP and IDT’s 82P33731 SETS
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Oct. 12, 2015 -- Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT®) (NASDAQ: IDTI) and Altera Corp. today reported their success using IDT network communications solutions with Altera® FPGAs and Altera IP cores to build flexible Ethernet nodes that comply with ITU-T SyncE requirements. IDT’s 82P33731 Synchronous Equipment Timing Source (SETS) for 10G-40G Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) was used alongside the Altera devices. The 82P33731 is a proven solution that can reduce risk and speed time to market for SyncE designs. It is ideal for communications equipment demanding network-grade standards compliance and ultra-high performance.
The two companies collaborated to build and test an Altera Stratix® V FPGA-based SyncE system design. The design implements Ethernet ports using the Altera 1G/10Gb Ethernet MAC core with the Altera 10GBASE-R PHY IP core and the Ethernet ports are synchronized by IDT’s 82P33731. Testing demonstrates that the design meets 10G-40G Ethernet transmit jitter requirements and complies with ITU-T G.8262 option 1 and option 2.
”Carrier Ethernet equipment synchronized by SyncE is used globally for the backhaul of wireless network traffic,” said Louise Gaulin, vice president and general manager of IDT’s Network Communications Division. “As demonstrated by the joint test results, the Altera and IDT design provides a flexible and compliant SyncE solution optimized for high-performance carrier Ethernet equipment.”
