Flex Logix Appoints Abhijit Abhyankar as VP Silicon Engineering
FPGA-in-SoC Innovator Expands Executive Team to Handle Customer Growth
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — December 1, 2015 — Flex Logix Technologies, Inc., innovative developer of patented FPGA-in-SoC technology, announced today that Abhijit Abhyankar has joined the company as Vice President of Silicon Engineering. In this role he will report to Flex Logix co-founder Dr. Cheng Wang. Abhijit will be responsible for all IC implementations of Flex Logix’ EFLX™ embedded FPGAs in various processes; and for working with customers to integrate EFLX embedded FPGAs into their SoCs, MCUs and custom silicon. Abhijit’s experience will be very valuable in allowing Flex Logix to staff and grow rapidly to satisfy increasing customer demands.
Abhijit has over 20 years experience in silicon and system design, with 19 years at Rambus and 4 years at LTX Corporation. He has managed teams as large as 100 people, including digital logic, mixed signal, system, verification and software groups. Projects managed by Abhijit have resulted in multiple millions of chips and systems sold by customers such as Intel, Sony, IBM, and Toshiba. A serial inventor with more than a dozen patents, Abhijit holds an MSEE from Stanford University, BSEE from University of Utah and an MBA from San Jose State University.
“We are honored to have someone with Abhijit's experience join Flex Logix to help execute our expansion plans,” said Dr. Cheng Wang, co-founder of Flex Logix. “His experience from startup to multi-team management will be extremely valuable as we continue to grow.”
In just 20 months, Flex Logix has rapidly achieved several key milestones: the company successfully commercialized key FPGA technologies that were first presented in an award-winning paper at the industry’s annual ISSCC conference; announced initial availability of its key EFLX product line, including specialized DSP and Block RAM cores; and successfully completed a series A venture finding round. The appointment of a VP Silicon Engineering is another key milestone on the company’s accelerated development track.
“I have worked with Abhijit for many years when I was CEO at Rambus,” said Geoff Tate, Flex Logix CEO and co-founder. “He joined Rambus to implement the digital logic on our critical high performance memory interface, and went on to manage the digital logic team and multiple mixed signal teams. He is a proven technologist and manager.”
