GUC Delivers 28G Multi-Standard SerDes IP
Hsinchu, Taiwan, March 10, 2016 - Global Unichip Corp. (GUC), the Flexible ASIC LeaderTM and leading analog mixed signal IP provider today announced that its 28Gbps Multi-Standard SerDes IP (28G-EMSPHY-XT), silicon-proven on TSMC’s 28nm process technology, has demonstrated compliance with IEEE 802.3bj (100GBase-KR4), CEI- 25G-LR, and CEI-28G-VSR specifications.
GUC’s new SerDes core, the latest and most advanced addition to GUC’s broad SerDes IP portfolio, features an innovative equalization architecture that brings unparalleled long-reach capability to 28Gbps operation and beyond. Furthermore, with its highly modular and multi-rate architecture, the SerDes core can be readily expanded to support various new and emerging industry specifications including 16G PCIe-4, 24G SAS-4, 32G Fibre Channel, and 30G HMC.
SerDes IP Features:
- Broad range of data rates supports from 1.25 Gbps to 32 Gbps.
- Exceptional PLL jitter performance of < 200fs
- Advanced long-reach mode supports up to 35dB of channel loss.
- Automatic calibration for optimal performance and maximize yield.
- On-Chip non-intrusive Eye Monitor support
- Advanced diagnostic software
GUC’s SerDes IP core has steadily increased its presence in enterprise class systems that cover a wide range of applications in data centers, high performance computing, and storage networks. The exceptional SerDes performance achievement demonstrates GUC's on-going commitment to developing advanced, high performance, cost-effective solutions for data centers and enterprise networking applications.
"GUC has worked with networking, server and storage customers for more than 10 years and we are well aware of their requirements and their end-customers’ requirements in switch, router, networking processor space. There is constant demand for a high performance SerDes to meet their special requirement from the consideration of long, medium, short and very short reach with reasonable power and area and multi-protocol support to save cost and area," said Jim Lai, President of GUC.
GUC's in-house IP portfolio includes memory interface (DDR/ONFI), high-speed serial interface (SerDes), data converter, hardened ARM core, multimedia and fundamental IP (cell library, I/O, SRAM). GUC's IP eco-system provides the flexibility to work with IP from GUC, TSMC and other vendors, creating the widest range of design options.
