InvenSense and ARM Innovation Ecosystem Accelerator Partner to Advance China's IoT Industry
Aiding in development of ARM Innovation Ecosystem Accelerator innovation labs
SAN JOSE, Calif. & SHANGHAI -- May 09, 2016 -- InvenSense, Inc. (NYSE: INVN), a leading provider of MEMS sensor platforms and ARM Innovation Ecosystem Accelerator (ARM Accelerator), founded by ARM (NYSE:ARMH) in 2015 and Thundersoft Software Technology Co., Ltd (Thundersoft), as a co-investor, have partnered to accelerate development and innovation in the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart hardware segments in China. ARM Accelerator is the first incubation and acceleration platform in China centered on technical services and featured in ARM's abundant ecosystem resources, which creates a one-stop shop for startups and OEMs at smart hardware and Internet of Things (IoT) segments, providing integrated hardware and software experience as well as resources from the ARM Ecosystem. InvenSense expertise in sensors and its SensorStudio development platform will be the sensor foundation for the largest growing IoT technology ecosystem in the world, according to forecasts made by ABI Research.
InvenSense will contribute its product portfolio of Motion and Audio platforms, including the SensorStudio software tool and the InvenSense FireFly development kit, comprised of InvenSense’s Firefly SoC family, a MEMS 6-axis sensor (3-axis gyroscope + 3-axis accelerometer) with integrated ARM and motion processors, and sensor framework software, interfacing with an Arduino Zero board for sensor prototyping and development of Internet of Things (IoT) applications. With SensorStudio and the FireFly development kit, developers are able to select and evaluate the embedded features (orientation, activity tracking, gestures, etc.), to enable quick design, develop custom algorithms, test and visual system outputs, a unique level of simplification, and an integration to build smart IoT solutions faster.
The ARM Innovation Ecosystem Accelerator program provides workshops, training, and design services for IoT development platforms. The program will also offer system integration services aligned to the needs of the local design environment will also be available to further facilitate and speed up the path from prototype to production across various IoT segments.
“China is becoming the global leader in the deployment of the Internet of Things (IoT) and home to a fast-growing community of developers and technology entrepreneurs,” said Eitan Median, vice president marketing and product management, InvenSense. “The developer ecosystem in China is in need of sensor product experience, resources, and tools. This partnership between InvenSense and ARM Innovation Ecosystem Accelerator is a significant step towards creating this foundation, thus accelerating the adoption of sensors in this very important market.”
