Leading Russian semiconductor foundry Angstrem-T has developed a design using a Cortus APS core
Cortus processor IP core incorporated in integrated circuit manufactured by Angstrem-T
Montpellier, France. 8th June 2016 - Cortus, a technology leader in low power, silicon efficient, 32-bit processor IP, today announced its relationship with Angstrem-T. As a result of this work, the leading Russian semiconductor Foundry Angstrem-T has developed an ASIC based on a Cortus APS 32-bit microcontroller core.
Cortus licenses a range of low power, 32-bit processor cores for smart devices including Internet of Things (IoT), smart cards, smart sensors & industrial control. The APS range of processors are all modern, advanced 32-bit RISC processors, with out-of-order completion designed for running code in high level languages. Cortus offers two compatible processor families, one family is designed to offer the smallest core size possible without compromising performance, the second family is designed to prioritise code density and therefore minimise instruction memory size.
“We are pleased to collaborate with such a major Russian Foundry”, says Michael Chapman President & CEO of Cortus. “Our small cores with excellent performance are ideal for embedded SoC (System on Chip) projects using Angstrem-T’s silicon technology”.
“Collaboration with Cortus has allowed us to offer a power- and silicon-efficient IC with security features”, says Anatoly Sukhoparov General Director / CEO of Angstrem-T. “We hope to have productive relationships in future with such flexible and high-performance 32-bit processor IP design company”.
The APS processors were designed to execute high level languages, notably C, with ease. All cores interface to Cortus’ peripherals including Ethernet 10/100 MAC, USB 2.0 Device and USB 2.0 OTG. They also share the simple vectored interrupt structure which ensures rapid, real time interrupt response, with low software overhead.
The APS tool chain and IDE (for C and C++) is available to licensees free of charge, and can be customised and branded for final customer use. Ports of various RTOSs are available such as FreeRTOS, Micrium μC/OSII®, Micrium μC/OSIII® & TargetOS™.
To date well over 900 million devices have been manufactured containing Cortus processor cores.
