Kalray Works with Automobile Giants to put its MPPA Manycore Processor into Self-Driving Vehicles
Kalray to demonstrate its processor technology at the Autosens Connected Car conference
BRUSSELS, Sept. 21, 2016 — Kalray, a world leader in manycore processors, used its participation today at the Autosens connected car conference to showcase its Massively Parallel Processor Array (MPPA®) processors for autonomous vehicles. In order to deliver passengers safely to their destinations, self-driving vehicles need microprocessors that are both powerful and reliable, ensuring faultlessly high levels of performance and safety. With a determinist architecture and extremely low latency, Kalray’s MPPA® is particularly well-equipped for use in autonomous vehicles.
Kalray has begun working with some of the automotive industry’s key manufacturers to put its MPPA® technology at the heart of the electronics systems of their new fleets of self-driving vehicles. Because the MPPA® processor brings together a rare combination of high performance, guaranteed safety and low power consumption, these vehicles are able to perform multiple, diverse tasks in parallel, without sacrificing safety or performance. Kalray’s processor performs the following tasks:
- sensor fusion
- deep learning
- network security
“We are enthusiastic about introducing our embedded processing technology into the domain of autonomous vehicles,” said Stéphane Cordova, director of the Embedded Business Unit at Kalray. “It is important that self-driving cars be equipped with the most reliable and highest-performing technology and Kalray is confident that it can provide an unparalleled solution for automotive companies developing autonomous vehicles.”
Kalray will be showcasing its MPPA® technology throughout the Autosens event with a live Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) demonstration.
