Linaro Announces First Development Board Compliant with 96Boards IoT Edition Specification
Cambridge, UK -- September 26, 2016 -- Linaro Ltd, the collaborative engineering organization developing open source software for the ARM® architecture, today at Linaro Connect Las Vegas 2016 announced availability of the 96Boards ‘Carbon’ board – the first development board compliant with the 96Boards IoT Edition (IE) specification. The board is the latest addition to the 96Boards family, the open specification defining a platform for the delivery of low-cost 32-bit and 64-bit ARM ecosystem developer boards. It is available to purchase from SeeedStudio.
Designed by SeeedStudio and Linaro, the 96Boards Carbon is an IoT reference development board targeted at IoT and embedded developers, the hobby community, and the open-source community. The board features the STM32F401RE Cortex-M4 SoC with 512KB onboard flash and Bluetooth LE. The board will be launched with Zephyr pre-installed. This is a small, scalable, real-time OS for use on resource-constrained systems.
The IoT Edition (IE) specification is a joint effort between 96Boards, the Linaro IoT and Embedded (LITE) Group and its members. This specification is intended to foster the delivery of IoT devices using ARM Cortex-A and Cortex-R/M processors targeted at software developers, the maker community, higher education, and embedded OEMs. To comment on the specifications, please visit the Specification forum.
