GUC PCIe 3 PHY IP & PLDA EP Controller Combo Passes Compliance Test
Targets TSMC's 28nm HPC+ Process Technology
Hsinchu, Taiwan, March 15, 2017 - A Global Unichip Corp. (GUC) low-power PCIe3 PHY IP that the company coupled with an EP Controller from PLDA and designed to TSMC's 28HPC+ process technology has passed the PCI-SIG Compliance Test.
The achievement of this milestone provides critical assurance to designers looking to incorporate extremely low power PCIe3 PHY IP into devices targeting a key 28nm process technology. Its smaller size reduces SoC die size and lead to reduce die cost.
The GUC PCIe3 PHY provides a cost effective and extremely low power solution that is designed to meet the needs of today's high speed interconnect designs. It is based on GUC’s proven high-speed SerDeS technology. The performance of GUCs PCIe3 PHY exceeds PCI-SIG Base specs, allowing for wide range of applications. PCIe3 PHY is an integral part of GUC's Solid State Drive (SSD) ASIC platform.
PLDA, the industry leader in PCI Express® and interface IP solutions, provides a robust suite of PCI-SIG compliance tested and certified products.
PCI-SIG is the consortium that owns and manages PCI specifications as open industry standards. It conducts compliance tests and validates products against PCI-SIG maintained systems, as well as other leading manufacturers of PCIe products. The rigorous testing process includes interoperability testing on a range of PC hardware products, transaction layer and data link testing, physical layer testing and configuration testing. "This certification test provides SSD storage device customers with the confidence that they are getting superior power, performance and area benefits for their ASIC devices. We also see a strong market for PCIe3 IP in Flash applications," said Dr. Ken Chen, President, GUC
GUC's in-house IP portfolio includes DDR, high-speed networking interface, high -speed interface SerDes, data converter, hardened ARM core, multimedia and fundamental IP (cell library, I/O, SRA). GUC's IP eco-system provides the flexibility to work with IP from GUC, TSMC and other vendors, creating the widest range of design options. For added assurance, all GUC IP are silicon proven and designed with manufacturability, test and yield considerations.
