Inside Secure partners with ContentArmor to address Hollywood studios' higher security requirements for early-window and UHD movies delivered over-the-top (OTT)
New software development kit integrates important forensic watermarking into inside Secure’s leading SAFEplayer Ultra(tm) content protection solution
Aix-en-Provence, France, April 18, 2017 – Inside Secure (Euronext Paris: INSD), at the heart of security solutions for mobile and connected devices, today announced it is working with ContentArmor, a provider of forensic watermarking solutions, to offer customers a pre-integrated software development kit (SDK) for secure player, meeting the stringent security requirements for early-window and UHD movies. Inside Secure’s SAFEplayer Ultra supports the widest range of devices, including Android 2.3+, Android STB, Android TV, iOS 6.0+, tvOS, and FireOS, removing device fragmentation as a barrier to successful early-window and high-resolution OTT deployment.
Early-window movies are the newest Hollywood films available on-demand shortly after their theatrical release. Hackers are keen to gain access to content when it is most valuable, and the pirating of early-window movies could significantly reduce the revenue that Hollywood studios stand to generate in subsequent distribution windows such as download-to-own, digital rental and subscription services. In response to the increased impact of piracy threat with early-window and UHD movies, Hollywood studios have developed higher security requirements such as forensic watermarking, which allows content owners to uniquely identify the source of leaking content.
To address these requirements, Inside Secure’s SAFEplayer Ultra has pre-integrated ContentArmor’s forensic watermarking proven solution, which protects against an extensive range of signal processing attacks and digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital conversion, including crude recompression, HDMI stripping, screencasting, and camcording. Inside Secure’s SAFEplayer Ultra, with the company’s patented Core(tm) technology, ensures that watermark payload insertion cannot be circumvented or removed, providing customers with solid protection against illicit activities.
“Protecting the significant investments of movie studios from vicious hackers is critically important for our customers,” said Andrew McLennan, president of Inside Secure’s Content and Application Protection business. “Our SAFEplayer Ultra, with ContentArmor’s highly-robust watermarking technology, gives our customers a unique and scalable client-based pre-integrated solution that makes it extremely easy to insert watermarking protection without re-encoding, and supports all major operating systems and devices. This saves our customers time, reduces cost and accelerates deployment.”
“Forensic watermarking is now a paramount element in any global anti-piracy solution,” said Alain Durand, CEO of ContentArmor. “Our company’s bitstream forensic watermark embedding is ultra-light and ultra-fast and can be easily integrated in many environments and at any step in the content delivery chain. The combination of SAFEplayer Ultra and ContentArmor video forensic watermarking technology offers a robust and complete secure player solution perfectly adapted to play early-window and UHD movies or series”.
