Mentor enables 64-bit ARM-v8 Cortex-A72 support in its Nucleus Real-Time Operating System
May 3, 2017-- Mentor, a Siemens business, today announced that its Nucleus® real-time operating system (RTOS) now supports the ARM® Cortex®-A72 processor based on the 64-bit ARMv8-A architecture, and the NXP’s LS1046A system-on-chip (SoC).
The reference implementation on the NXP LS1046A-RDB board includes device support for UART and Ethernet. The board’s implementation is easily extended using the Mentor board support package (BSP) framework to utilize devices and the SoC’s resources. This architecture port can also support related SoCs such as LS2080A/40A, LS2045A, LS2084/44A, LS2088A/48A, LS1012A, LS1046A/26A, LS1043A/23A, and LS1088A/48A.
The LS1046A reference design board (RDB) is a high-performance computing, evaluation, and development platform that supports the QorIQ®LS1046A processor.
The Mentor® Nucleus ReadyStart™ platform features the Nucleus RTOS support for ARMv8 architecture and provides customers with a complete embedded development environment and source code, enabling embedded developers to quickly get products to market. Mentor’s broadly adopted Sourcery™ CodeBench integrated development environment (IDE) features ARM® DSTREAM™ support for LS1046A, and a prebuilt, hardened, and supported GCC toolchain. The Sourcery CodeBench IDE also includes the Sourcery™ Analyzer product, a powerful embedded design analysis solution combining a unique profiling and analysis engine with data visualization capabilities.
The Mentor Nucleus RTOS is a low-footprint, highly scalable, hard real-time solution that delivers a high-end embedded operating system option without compromising system simplicity. The Nucleus RTOS comes enabled with multicore capabilities such as symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) support.
The Nucleus ReadyStart product with support for LS1046A is available now from Mentor. Go to: https://www.mentor.com/embedded-software/nucleus/readystart/
