Northwest Logic and Fidus Systems showcase a proven PCIe Gen 4 platform for developing 16G solutions
Beaverton, Oregon and San Jose, California – February 27, 2018— Northwest Logic and Fidus Systems announced today that Northwest Logic’s PCI Express® (PCIe®) 4.0 solution, which includes the Expresso 4.0 Core (PCI Express 4.0 controller) and a variety of full-featured PCI Express DMA cores, has been validated on the Fidus Sidewinder-100 platform. This validation was done with 4 lanes running at 16 Gbit/sec SERDES rates. This joint validation effort provides customers with a proven PCIe Gen 4 platform for developing 16G solutions.
Northwest Logic’s PCI Express 4.0 solution includes the full-featured Expresso 4.0 Core and a family of high-performance PCI Express DMA cores and drivers for use in ASICs and FPGAs. This solution has already passed PCI Express 4.0 FYI Compliance testing at the PCI-SIG Workshop in December 2017 and is already being used by multiple PCI Express Gen 4 ASIC and FPGA customers.
The Sidewinder-100 is a compute, network and storage acceleration platform leveraging Xilinx’s® flagship Zynq UltraScale+ ZU19EG MPSoC. A full Linux distribution, and IP for NVMe/NVMeoF, PCIe 4.0, and more, enables rapid application development. Sidewinder-100 is available as a standard product or as production-ready hardware IP that Fidus can customize to client requirements. Leveraging Sidewinder-100 for custom designs mitigates project risk, and accelerates time-to-market by as much as 50%.
"Fidus Systems was pleased to participate in the validation of Northwest Logic’s PCIe 4.0 solution on our Sidewinder-100 platform" said Mazen Matar, Director, OEM Products, Fidus Systems. "The combination of Fidus Systems’ Zynq® UltraScale+TM
products and design expertise and Northwest Logic’s proven PCIe 4.0 IP enables clients to easily develop PCIe 4.0-based applications. Sidewinder-100 is currently shipping to Fidus clients worldwide."
"The PCI Express 4.0 Solution was hardware tested at 16G rates utilizing the Fidus Sidewinder and the Xilinx Kintex UltraScale+ GTY board in a switch application. The Fidus Sidewinder board was key component in this testing," said Vinitha Seevaratnam, PCI Express Product Marketing Engineer at Northwest Logic. "Our successful PCI SIG FYI compliance testing further verifies that Northwest Logic’s PCI Express 4.0 Solution provides a robust and proven platform for developing PCI Express 4.0/3.1/2.1/1.1 based products."
