Express Logic's X-Ware IoT Platform Brings Industrial-Grade IoT Device Connectivity to the AndesCore N25 and NX25 RISC-V Processors
San Diego, CA, May 9, 2018 -- Express Logic, Inc., the worldwide leader in royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOSes), has announced that its industrial-grade X-Ware IoT Platform® — powered by the industry-leading ThreadX® RTOS—provides turnkey support for the AndesCore™ 32-bit N25 and 64-bit NX25 RISC-V processors. RISC-V, a standard open architecture ISA under the governance of the RISC-V Foundation, is highly portable and enables the open source community to test and improve cores faster than with closed ISAs. In addition, because the RISC-V intellectual property (IP) core is not encrypted, RISC-V can be used to ensure trust and certifications not possible with closed architectures.
The X-Ware IoT Platform, the industry’s most comprehensive deeply embedded run-time offering, includes the ThreadX RTOS, the FileX® embedded FAT file system, the embedded GUIX™ UI framework, the NetX™/NetX Duo™ embedded TCP/IP protocol stack, and the USBX™ embedded USB support.
AndesCore N25 and NX25 families are 32- and 64-bit V5 embedded cores extending from the mass-production proven processors of the AndeStar™ V3 family. They’re fully compliant with RISC-V technology while providing differential, advanced features, which include Andes Performance Extension to speed up program sequence for memory accesses, branches and other common scenarios, Andes Custom Extension™ (ACE) to enable user-defined instructions for Domain-Specific Acceleration (DSA), CoDense™ for code size compression, StackSafe™ stack overflow/underflow detection to ensure program reliability, and PowerBrake frequency scaling for power saving.
Safe, Secure, Seamless IoT Connectivity
The X-Ware IoT Platform contains no open source, provides high performance, and boasts an extremely small footprint. The X-Ware IoT Platform automatically scales to use only what is needed by the application, making it perfectly suited for the smallest low-power IoT devices.
In addition to the performance and size advantages of the X-Ware IoT Platform, ThreadX, FileX, and NetX Duo have attained the highest level of safety certifications. They include IEC 61508 SIL 4, IEC 62304 Class C, ISO 26262 ASIL D, EN 50128 SW-SIL 4, UL 60730-1 Annex H, CSA E60730-1 Annex H, IEC 60730-1 Annex H, 60335-1 Annex R, and IEC 60335-1 Annex R, 1998.
“Express Logic is pleased to be a part of the AndesCore N25/NX25 RISC-V ecosystem,” said William E. Lamie, President, Express Logic. “Our X-Ware IoT Platform, the preferred embedded software platform for designs requiring industrial-grade run-time solutions—is an ideal fit for products based on the RISC-V architecture.”
“Express Logic’s industrial-grade ThreadX RTOS and X-Ware IoT Platform address the emerging smart device and appliance market with the highest level of safety certifications,” said Dr. Charlie Su, CTO and Senior VP of Andes Technology. “We’re glad to introduce the X-Ware IoT platform as the first commercial RTOS solution to Andes V5 RISC-V compliant cores while inheriting its support on Andes V3 cores.”
