VOCAL Technologies Inks Accord With Agilent Technologies
Agilent Selects Fax Modem Software for Its Image Processing Solutions
BUFFALO, N.Y., December 9, 2002 /PRNewswire/ -- VOCAL Technologies, Ltd., a leading application developer of software and hardware for the communications industry, today announced that it has licensed its telecommunications software to Agilent Technologies Inc. Agilent will include fax modem code from VOCAL's software library into an upcoming system-on-chip (SOC) design targeted at next generation multi-function peripheral (MFP) devices.
Highly regarded among the SOC design and semiconductor intellectual property (IP) community, Agilent is known for integrating complex design blocks onto multi-million transistor system chips that run at the industry's highest speeds. The company has an outstanding track record of first-pass success in the design and manufacture of these chips. Agilent was the first to integrate Intel i960 and Motorola 68K microprocessor cores into commercial and consumer SOCs and today the company continues to integrate the industry's leading processing cores into its products. Agilent has shipped over 100 million system chips into office automation and computing applications.
"VOCAL's soft modem is well established in the marketplace, and enables Agilent to offer another level of integration, said Jeff Henderson, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Personal Systems Business Unit. "Their technology gives us the ability to address today's MFP applications with solutions that enable competitive performance with the lowest overall system cost."
VOCAL Technologies has experience with optimizing code for RISC processors, which normally requires DSP functions. VOCAL Technologies has a complete V.90/V.34 data/facsimile modem available for MIPS 4K processor and a complete V.34/V.17 data/facsimile modem available for ARM processor. VOCAL Technologies delivers custom solution using the company's comprehensive wireless, data, telephony and modem software libraries. These solutions accommodates a complete range of ITU/IEEE/ETSI compliant modulations and protocols, optimized for execution on ANSI C and leading DSP architectures (ADI, ARM, ATMEL, DSP Group, MIPS and TI). Software is modular and can be executed as a single task under a variety of operating systems or it can execute standalone with its own kernel.
