Synaptics Selects and Designs SiFive Custom E2 Series Core IP in Record Time
Human interface solutions leader uses SiFive Core Designer to configure embedded processor in two months
SAN MATEO, Calif. — April 9, 2019 — SiFive, the leading provider of commercial RISC-V processor IP, today announced that Synaptics Incorporated has licensed the SiFive E2 Series Core IP. Synaptics, a leading developer of human interface solutions, used the SiFive Core Designer cloud-based platform to evaluate, configure and finalize its custom processor solution in just two months, a significant reduction from traditional design platforms.
SiFive Core IP enables the differentiation and customization desperately needed in the embedded market and enables intelligence at the edge of the network with 64-bit embedded and advanced, coherent, heterogenous systems. SiFive Core Designer allows customers to conduct the evaluation process quickly, and customize their processor with a core that fits their specific needs in an efficient performance and power envelope. Synaptics was able to go through the selection, customization and enhancement phases of design in just two months.
"SiFive's Core Designer allowed our design team to get direct, hands-on access much earlier in the process and enabled us to rapidly optimize our configuration," said Prashant Shamarao, vice president, product development, Synaptics. "We were impressed by the robustness and completeness of SiFive Core Designer as well as the support we received."
"We are proud to partner with an industry leader in human-machine interfaces," said Naveed Sherwani, CEO, SiFive. "Our Core IP is well suited for high-performance embedded solutions, and Synaptics' experience with our Core Designer showcases the rapid innovation and time-to-market the platform enables. We foresee more solutions like this moving to a cloud design."
