Astera Interoperable with Gadzoox Networks 2Gb Open Fabric Switches
Astera and Gadzoox Networks Bring High-Performance SANs to Apple-Based Platforms For Digital Media and Entertainment Markets
Fremont, Calif. -- January 13, 2003-- Astera Technologies® Corporation today announced that it has completed certification of its Rhino-2000 2Gb FC STAR product with Gadzoox® Networks' Slingshot™ family of 2Gb Open Fabric Fibre Channel (FC) switches for use in Content Creation and Multi-media markets using Apple G3, G4, and Xserver machines. Interoperability often is a key factor in the deployment of a Storage Area Networks (SAN), the certification of Rhino products with the Gadzoox Networks' Slingshot assures users of a tested and ready-to-use solution.
"Gadzoox Networks' 2Gb Slingshot switches with Astera's 2Gb Rhino HBA provide the digital content creation and multi-media markets with a high performance, value-leading and tested solution," states Greg Beutler, Senior Product Engineer, Gadzoox Networks. "This solution is ideal for the small to medium size multi-media customer that is looking to leverage the benefits of SANs."
"Gadzoox Networks' switches are popular with multi-media customers based upon their high bandwidth, scalability, broad interoperability and value. The combination of Rhino-2000 products with the Gadzoox Networks' switches further enables the migration for these customers to Mac OS-X and 2Gb FC networks" states Gustavo Jorge, Vise President of Sales, Astera Technologies. "The recently announced High Perfomance Rhino product family for the Mac OS-X market has created a large pool of interest for Astera products."
SANs significantly boost productivity and enhance workflow in digital content creation environments by enabling multiple editors simultaneous access to the same data. This enables digital content creators to spend more time creating and less time waiting because they can share content in place versus copying the content over slow networks. Fibre Channel switches like Gadzoox Networks' Slingshot family in conjuncttion with Astera's Rhino-2000 form the foundation for these high performance storage networks. Scability, shared storage, high bandwidth, and ease of storage management are all benefits that have convienced media companies of the business value SANs can provide to their bottom line.
Today's SAN components have evolved and now even small companies can reap the benefits only larger companies have had the opportunity to realize. Astera Technologies and Gadzoox Networks are committed to continually providing affordable and easy to use SAN components.
