Arasan and Xilinx announce their design win in providing a Total UFS 3.0 Solution to Wuhan Jingce
Aug 26, 2019 -- San Jose, CA -- Arasan and Xilinx are proud to add Wuhan Jingce Electronics Technology to their impressive list of customers using the Arasan UFS 3.0 IP + MPHY 4.1 IP on Xilinx FPGA’s for production test applications. Arasan’s MPHY DFE (Digital Front End) IP integrates seamlessly with the built in Xilinx FPGA Serdes to provide a single chip UFS 3.0 + MPHY Solution.
Since the launch of the JEDEC UFS 2.1 Standard in 2010, Arasan’s UFS IP along with Xilinx FPGA’s have been by all of the UFS production test companies making us the defacto standard for test solutions. With the evolution of the standard to UFS 3.0 in 2016, all our mutual customers upgraded their solutions with us attesting to the Arasan IP quality.

We also added additional customers like Wuhan Jingce who directly supported UFS 3.0 + MPHY 4.1 while being backward compatible with UFS 2.1 + MPHY 3.0.
Arasan sells a UFS 3.0 HDK platform which includes the Xilinx VC707 boards programmed Arasan UFS 3.0 Host IP + MPHY 4.1 DFE on one board and the Arasan UFS 3.0 Device IP + MPHY 4.1 on the other. The HDK includes Arasan’s proprietary daughter card which implements part of the MPHY on it. Linux software stacks are included as part of the HDK. This HDK forms the basis for our tester customers and also those customers implementing UFS SoC’s to prototype their solutions.
The Xiilnx VC707 prototype board comes built in with the Xilinx Virtex 7 FPGA with a build in 12 gig serdes. This serdes easily supports the MPHY 4.1 speeds of 11.6 ghz. This serdes is seamlessly integrated with Arasan’s MPHY DFE.
Wuhan Jingce Technology Company is one of the fastest growing tester companies based in China. Their UFS Test Solution targets companies implementing UFS globally in addition to those in China.
“We are extremely happy to license Arasan’s IP and use their HDK to jumpstart our Tester development. The team at Xilinx referred us to Arasan who is one of the Xilinx Alliance Partner Program members, coordinated the technical discussions with Arasan and provided us with excellent support to ensure the UFS & MPHY IP can be easily used in our tester application with Xilinx FPGA’s. The team at Xilinx also helped us choose the right FPGA for production testing to meet our performance and cost requirements.” said Kai Chen, President & CEO of Wuhan Jingce.
“The implementation of Arasan’s MIPI M-PHY Gear 4 IP using the build in High Speed Serdes in the Xilinx Virtix 7 FPGA is yet another example of companies leveraging our built in PHY vs having a discrete component external to the FPGA. We are delighted to add Wuhan Jingce to the list of production test companies using our Virtix 7 based solutions.” said Asif Batada Senior Marketing Manager at Xilinx.
UFS is experiencing tremendous growth in the IoT and Automotive segments in addition to mobile where it is now well established. The higher speeds offered by UFS 3.0 @11.6ghz offers competitive speeds to PCIe based storage, but at a much lower power and pin count.
