Silex Insight releases ARIA crypto engine for the Korean market
September 12, 2019 -- Silex Insight, the leading provider of embedded Security IP, extends its broad range of Cryptographic IP cores with the release of the ARIA crypto engine, the block cipher standard in Korea.
ARIA is a general-purpose block cipher algorithm and was established as a Korean standard block cipher algorithm in 2004 by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards. It is widely used in Korea, especially for government-to-public services.
“We are seeing an increase in the development of IoT, Blockchain, Smart Meter and AI systems in the regions of Asia, requiring support for country-specific Crypto algorithms. Localization of Crypto standard support is a key requirement for companies developing embedded security systems” says Sébastien Rabou, Security Division Director at Silex Insight. “This release of the ARIA Crypto engine for Korean customers, complements the recent introduction of the SM4 Crypto engine for China”.
The ARIA crypto engine is an iterated block cipher with support for 128-,192-, and 256-bit length keys, the algorithms being derived form the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). It is programmable to support a wide range of Cipher modes including: ECB, CTR, CBC, CMAC, CCM, GMAC, GCM.
It is delivered as a standalone Crypto engine (BA424). It is also included in the eSecure Root-of-Trust solution (BA470) and the Crypto Coprocessor (BA450), with easy integration into SoC, ASIC and FPGA platforms.
