M31 Memory Compiler and GPIO are certified with ASIL-D safety level of ISO 26262
Hsinchu, Taiwan – October 17, 2019 - M31 Technology Corporation (Taiwan stock code: 6643-TW), a professional global silicon Intellectual Property (IP) provider, today announced that: Following the high-speed interface IP MIPI M-PHY, Memory Compilers and GPIO IP have also been certified by the German institution SGS-TÜV for ISO 26262 automotive safety highest level ASIL-D Ready certification, to provide safe and reliable automotive electronic design solutions.
ISO 26262 is recognized by the international vehicle industry as the most advanced automotive safety technology standard today, and has become the norm for global auto manufacturers and the automotive industry supply chain to invest in and follow. With the increasing complexity of automotive electronic systems, the ISO 26262 standard defines four automotive safety integrity levels that allows engineers to follow through the verification and validation procedures in order to analyze whether the functional safety of automotive electronic products meet the required Automotive Safety Integrity Levels (ASIL). The ASIL grade is from A to D, with ASIL-A as the lowest and ASIL-D as the highest. The higher the grade, the more stringent the system functional safety requirements are.
With the development of vehicle networking, autonomous driving, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), many international semiconductor manufacturers are attracted to actively invest in the automotive electronics industry. The reliability and safety of products are the most important indicators for automotive semiconductor products.
“It is a great honor and pleasure that our foundation IP, including Memory Compiler and GPIO IP, obtain ISO 26262 ASIL-D Ready Certification” M31 Executive Vice President Willis Shih said, “This is one of the major milestones for foundation IP breaking into automotive electronics market. With certification, IC manufacturers can confidently leverage the M31 IP solutions to plan their overall requirements for automotive IC functionality, safety, and reliability”.
Jack Kuo, SGS Taiwan vice president, said: “Functional safety has been recognized and valued by international manufacturers in recent years and requires supply chain to comply it strictly to let their products get functional safety guaranteed in system applications. ISO 26262 implementation is one of the indispensable activities in the automotive supply chain. SGS Taiwan supports all customers to upgrade industries and provides technical seminars, reliability verification and validation, safety certification, and other services for growing together with the supply chain to enhance value and expand the international automotive market.”
Back in May 2018, the M31 product MIPI MPHY has been certified by ISO 26262 ASIL B and has been adopted right away by the international first-class automotive electronics company. This year, M31 has successfully entered the IP supply chain of the electronic design department of the first-tier European Automobile Manufacturers. IP solutions of automotive application are more complete with the addition of Memory Compiler and GPIO certified products.
The certified IPs not only follow the development process of ISO 2626, but also specifically analyze the failure modes to improve the stability and safety of the product. In addition to reaching the ASIL-D Ready safety rating, M31 IPs still maintain high competitive advantages of small design-area and low power consumption. It is the best choice for automotive electronics manufacturers to achieve high performance, low power, low cost, and safety.
With M31's innovative IP solutions, chip designers are able to achieve “lower-power”, “higher-efficiency”, and “smaller-area” product designs, including artificial intelligence, high-speed computing, IoT, automotive electronics, data storage, and other applications. In the future, M31 Technology will continue to develop high-quality IP products for the global semiconductor industry.
