Accelerated Technology Announces Nucleus RTOS Support for OMAP Enhanced Application Processors from TI
MOBILE, Ala., March 18, 2003 - Accelerated Technology®, the Embedded Systems Division of Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT), today announced a version of the NucleusTM Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) for developers using the popular OMAPTM platform from Texas Instruments (TI). Nucleus developers familiar with ARM programming can now create a range of software applications for multimedia-enhanced devices using TI's high-performance, power-efficient OMAP application processors that contain an ARM processor application-programming interface.
Portable and highly optimized, the Nucleus RTOS provides a solid foundation from which OMAP developers can now build their embedded application. Developers can extend their application by using a range of Nucleus products including a TCP/IP networking suite, graphics package and file management system.
"Nucleus brings flexibility and ease of use to software application developers, and TI is pleased to work with Mentor Graphics to make multimedia-rich applications a reality by offering this valuable embedded development platform to our customers," said Gregory Mar, worldwide marketing manager, broad market OMAP, TI.
The OMAP platform is comprised of high-performance, power-efficient processors, a robust software infrastructure and comprehensive support network for the rapid development of differentiated real-time centric, multimedia-enhanced devices. The OMAP architecture significantly reduces development costs by providing developers with a full-featured platform for designing multimedia-rich applications and devices such as wireless handsets and PDAs, biometrics, web pads, telematics, gaming consoles, medical instrumentation, point-of-sale terminals and more.
"The OMAP architecture has quickly become a popular choice for new development and will soon be a driving force in the embedded industry, especially in consumer devices. The Nucleus product line offers developers a proven, royalty-free solution that takes full advantage of the OMAP platform's capabilities," said Robert Day, director of marketing for the Embedded Systems Division of Mentor Graphics.
