Xylon rolls out IP support for XILINX'S new SPARTAN-3 platform - the world's lowest-cost FPGA
Zagreb, Croatia, April 15, 2003 - Xylon d.o.o., an FPGA-oriented design house, today announced that is has joined the fast growing ranks of IP providers who now support Spartan-3 platform FPGAs from Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX), announced April 14, 2003. Xylon offers the logicBRICKSTM branded IP cores for use in human interface and industrial control applications. Xylon is a member of the Xilinx AllianceCORETM 3rd-party IP program as well as a founding member of the Common License Consortium which conceived the SignOnce IP License, the industry's first multi-vendor common license agreement for FPGA-based IP (www.xilinx.com/ipcenter/signonce.htm).
"We see the introduction of the Spartan-3 platform as a significant milestone for the FPGA industry," said Davor Kovacec, CEO from Xylon. "For the first time, FPGA users have access to 1M gates for under $20, throwing the doors wide open for designers to use more of our IP in high-volume applications."
"Xylon's focus on the industrial applications marketplace fills a strategic gap in our AllianceCORE IP portfolio," said Mark Bowlby, AllianceCORE program manager at Xilinx. "Spartan-3 significantly drops the total solution cost for our customers using their cores in programmable logic, making their top-shelf IP products even more compelling."
Spartan-3 cores are available for purchase directly from Xylon today under terms of the SignOnce IP License. Contact Xylon directly for more information, or visit their website at www.logicbricks.com.
Spartan-3 Platform FPGAs
Ranging from 50K to 5M system gates, the 90nm Spartan-3 platform is the world's lowest-cost FPGA with unrivaled price points to address customer demand for low-cost solutions. With Spartan-3, Xilinx is poised to address entirely new high-volume applications in the "sweet spot" of mid-range ASICs - such as low cost routers, storage servers, medical and industrial imaging, and residential gateways - to significantly expand the total available market for the Spartan Series.
