NewLogic Named As Member of IBM Blue Logic IP Collaboration Program
NewLogic Technologies to collaborate with IBM in company's Blue Logic IP Program
Lustenau, Austria - April 16th, 2003 - NewLogic Technologies, a worldwide, leading supplier of intellectual property (IP) cores and design services for wireless technology, announced today that they have become a member of IBM's Blue Logic IP Collaboration Program. Specifically, NewLogic's WiLD 802.11a/b/g MAC, 802.11a/b Modems and BOOST Core will be available as part of IBM's Blue Logic IP Collaboration program.
About the Blue Logic IP Collaboration Program
Established in March 2002, the Blue Logic IP Collaboration Program works to increase the number of popular third-party cores available to IBM's ASIC customers by enabling core providers to qualify their solutions within IBM's Blue Logic design methodology. The third-party cores are planned to be available for licensing directly from the IBM program members to integrate into ASIC chips manufactured by IBM.
Under this agreement, NewLogic introduces its industry leading WLAN and Bluetooth IP core technology (known under their product names as WiLD and BOOST) to insure compatibility with IBM ASIC design methodology.
"The Blue Logic IP Collaboration program is all about increasing offerings in the IBM library of technical solutions and helping enable third party providers, like NewLogic, offer their technology within the IBM design methodology," said Tom Reeves, vice president, ASIC product group, IBM Microelectronics Division.
"IBM's Blue Logic IP Collaboration Program, along with its Blue Logic design methodology provides ASIC customers with a competitive advantage in their time-to-market goals. Close collaboration between IBM and NewLogic will help those ASIC customers to incorporate 802.11 and Bluetooth functionality very quickly into their SoC designs", said Gianmaria Mazzucchelli, Managing Director, NewLogic Technologies France.
WiLD 802.11 Cores
The licensable and silicon independent WiLD 802.11a/b/g MAC core including the protocol software is an integral part of NewLogic's Wireless LAN WiLD IP product family. Combined with the modem cores of the WiLD family or with a third party modem core, it allows customers to quickly develop a high performance and cost effective multi standard Wireless LAN SoC.
The core allows customers to build an IEEE compliant multi standard 802.11 MAC IC or to integrate MAC functionality into a complex SoC for the next generation wireless LAN market. The WiLD 802.11a/b/g MAC supports high data rates of 54Mbit/s for current standards and is prepared for the upcoming 802.11e standard (QoS) and the 802.11i standard (Security).
The licensable and silicon independent WiLD 802.11a Modem and 802.11b Modem cores are part of NewLogic's Wireless LAN WiLD IP product family. Combined with other cores of the WiLD family or with a third party MAC and Radio, it enables customers to quickly develop high performance and cost effective Wireless LAN System-on-Chip designs.
These cores allow customers to integrate 802.11a modem and 802.11b modem functionality into standard ICs and ASICs for the next generation Wireless LAN market. The WiLD 802.11a Modem core features high data rates up to 54Mbit/s in the 5GHz band based on OFDM technology while the WiLD 802.11b Modem core features data rates up to 11Mbit/s in the 2.4GHz band using DSSS/CCK technology.
BOOST Core
The BOOST Core is a synthesizable Bluetooth baseband processor core for integration into standard ICs and is also designed to be part of an ASIC product. Synthesis, timing analysis and test insertion scripts are provided to ensure a quick integration for any technology. The block includes DFT features accepted by major ATPG tools while at the same time, any interfaces to the external logic on the ASIC are reduced to the strict minimum.
