ARC International Announces Availability of Embedded Software for Motorola ColdFire MCF5282 Processor
RTOS and Networking Stack seamlessly integrated with the Metrowerks CodeWarrior Development Studio
SAN JOSE, CA., April 23, 2003 – ARC International (LSE: ARK), a world leader in user-customizable processors, silicon peripheral IP, including USB, real-time operating systems and software tools for embedded systems development, announced immediate availability of its royalty-free embedded software that gives designers quick and easy access to the full features of the Motorola® ColdFireTM MCF5282 processor. The Precise Bundle, which includes the MQX RTOS, the RTCS networking stack, a full suite of networking protocols, RTOS aware debugging, performance tuning tools, device drivers for CAN and Ethernet controllers, and Board Support Packages for the Motorola M5282EVB Evaluation Board and the Arrow MCF5282 board, seamlessly integrated with Metrowerks' CodeWarriorTM Development Studio for ColdFire architectures, offers ideal development solution for network-based embedded control applications. ARC's Precise Bundle for CodeWarrior Development Studio is the latest result of an ongoing collaboration between ARC International and Metrowerks.
"As a provider of royalty-free, high-performance, yet modular embedded software, ARC is committed to provide developers with an integrated, flexible, cost-effective solution," said Mike Gulett, ARC International's president and CEO. "The synergy between CodeWarrior Development Studio and ARC's Precise Bundle is a good example of providing developers reduced design risk, development costs and ultimately, improved time-to-market."
David Clifton, vice president of marketing for Metrowerks, added, "Integrating ARC's high-performance embedded software into the CodeWarrior Development Studio is part of our ongoing strategy to provide our customers with a competitive solution ideal for Motorola's MCF5282 processor based designs, such as security systems, home networking, food service equipment and industrial control networks including CAN gateways and routers. "
Tightly integrated with the CodeWarrior Development Studio, kernel and networking stack information is available in the CodeWarrior pull-down menu during real-time debugging sessions, giving developers access to all resources in a single location. The Precise Bundle for ColdFire MCF5282 with CodeWarrior Development Studio gives designers foundation software that simplifies the development of applications programs to harness the MCF5282 processor's networking and control capabilities.
The Precise Bundle with CodeWarrior Development Studio is available immediately to give designers a head-start on software development for the MCF5282 processor. ARC will also be demonstrating its embedded software for the MCF5282 processor in its booth, #1626, at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Francisco. About ARC
ARC International pioneered the integrated development environment for SoC design in an effort to minimize design risk for customers developing next generation wireless, networking and consumer electronics products. ARC introduced the industry's first user-customizable 32-bit RISC/DSP processor core. In early 2000, ARC became the first company to integrate the development tools, peripherals, RTOS and software that enable the designer to better design optimization and performance. ARC's approach to providing a single source for the major SoC building blocks reduces the number of IP suppliers, reduces cost, reduces the risk of system-on-chip design and reduces time-to-market.
ARC's products include:
ARC International employs approximately 200 people in research and development, sales and marketing offices across North America, Europe and Asia. Full details of the company's locations and other information are available on the company's website, www.ARC.com. ARC International is listed on the London Stock Exchange as ARC International plc (LSE:ARK).
