Integrated Circuit Systems, Inc. Offers Rambus Yellowstone Memory Interface Clock Generators
Leading chip timing solutions provider manufactures fast memory interface clock generators for high-bandwidth applications
Los Altos,CA - June 18, 2003 - Rambus Inc. (Nasdaq:RMBS), a leading provider of chip-to-chip interface products and services, and Integrated Circuit Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: ICST), a worldwide leader in the design, development and marketing of timing devices for various applications, today announced that Integrated Circuit Systems will be offering clock generators for Rambus' newest memory interface, code-named Yellowstone, for high-bandwidth applications.
"Yellowstone is a breakthrough memory interface technology and we are glad to extend our existing relationship with Rambus to offer clock generators that support such an innovation," said Ram Iyer, director of marketing at Integrated Circuit Systems. "We are committed to delivering the high-performance clock generators that meet the challenging bandwidth, power, cost and time-to-market requirements of next-generation, high-performance systems. This will be leveraged from our high performance technology being used to design and produce our timing chips for various applications, including the world's best performing Direct Rambus Clock Generator (DRCG), the ICS9212AF-13."
Integrated Circuit System's programmable Yellowstone clock generator provides all the necessary clock signals to support memory subsystems. It incorporates four differential clock drivers into a single 28-pin TSSOP package. This reduces the overall memory subsystem chip count and allows for smaller printed circuit board area for consumer electronics, networking and PC graphics systems. The ICS9214 Yellowstone clock generators will be available for sampling in July 2003. System designers can begin designing today with specifications from Integrated Circuit Systems.
"Yellowstone is fast gaining momentum and support from leading memory and integrated circuit companies in the industry," said Rich Warmke, marketing director of the Memory Interface Division at Rambus. "With Integrated Circuit Systems on board, we have another piece of the critical infrastructure support in place enabling engineers to begin designing memory subsystems with Yellowstone."
Yellowstone offers a quantum leap in performance in memory signaling while lowering system cost through pin-count reduction and support for low-cost, high-volume PCBs and packages. Yellowstone is ideal for solving the challenging memory bandwidth issues in the computing, consumer and networking markets. Operating at data rates of 3.2 gigahertz to 6.4 gigahertz, Yellowstone provides up to 100 gigabytes per second of memory system bandwidth, offering ten times more bandwidth than today's mainstream memory systems.
