Waalre, The Netherlands, July 22, 2003 - Adelante Technologies Holding, a leading provider of licensable embedded DSP technologies, has sold its A|RT coprocessor technology activities in Leuven, Belgium, to ARM, the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit embedded RISC microprocessor solutions.
'In our view ARM is best equiped to move the A|RT technology forward. The combination of ARM's architectural capabilities and the IP of Adelante Technologies Belgium, will benefit our mutual customer bases', said Rob Woudsma, Chief Technology Officer at Adelante Technologies, Waalre, The Netherlands.
'The Adelante Technologies activities in The Netherlands and US are unaffected by ARM's acquisition and will continue as a developer and supplier of licensable embedded programmable DSP core technology for cost-and power-efficient Wireless, Media Processing, and Infotainment applications.'
The remaining divisions of Adelante Technologies offer the Galaxic DSP family of programmable DSP cores that can be configured and optimised to reduce overall system cost, boost functional performance, and dramatically reduce power consumption. The 16-bit Saturn DSP, supported by the Atmosphere software development environment, has already been applied in millions of consumer products.
