PLDApplications ranked world 2nd in PCI IP core solutions market
Latest study from analyst firm confirms PLDApplications success of a seven year commitment and R&D investment in the PCI and derivative busses including PCI-X and PCI Express.
Aix-en-Provence, France - July 31, 2003 — PLDApplications (PLDA – www.plda.com), a leading provider of high-speed interconnect solutions for the design community, today announced that it has been ranked world 2nd vendor of PCI IP Cores by Gartner-Dataquest in its latest Semiconductor Intellectual Property Market Study1. PLDA has a 16% share and take a strong position in a market poised for a tremendous growth in the coming years as next generation standards like PCI-X and PCI Express emerge.
Today's news underscores PLDA commitment to PCI and derivatives technologies. The company released its first PCI core in 1996 and since then has steadily grown to become a leading actor on its market, ranking world 3rd in 2000. PLDA was also the first to market a real PCI-X 133MHz IP core in 2002 and announced the availability of a complete range of PCI Express solutions last spring.
“This new step up on the world podium comes after many PCI design-wins from leading companies including Airbus Industries, Cisco, NASA, Quantum, Raytheon and Toshiba to name a few” commented Arnaud Schleich, vice president sales and marketing at PLDA. “However, though PCI has long been the interconnect standard and will still be for some years, many reports expect the number of PCI-X interface designs to increase fivefold until 2005 and foresee the more than probable migration to serial connectivity solutions like PCI Express. We’re confident that the technological skills and experience we’ve accumulated and the strategic choices we’ve made will be valuable to both our customers and the company”.
All PLDA cores -- including its PCI, PCI-X and PCI Express solutions -- are developed for FPGAs and ASICs and provide designers with pre-tested, fully verified solutions that reduce risk and system costs while accelerating product development. As part of its PCI technology-based solution, PLDA provides full support package including reference designs, application notes, maintenance and training, Field and telephone technical support is provided directly from PLDA IP designers to help ensure designer's success.
