Hyperstone introduces hy Linux, a uClinux compliant embedded Linux kernel for its RISC/DSP family of processors
Hyperstone AG, together with Global Digital Technologies SA, announced today the availability of embedded Linux.
Konstanz, Germany - 31st July 2003 - hyLinux is a uClinux compliant embedded Linux kernel for the Hyperstone RISC/DSP family of processors. It is available as open source, free of royalty under GPL license. The package includes the hyLinux kernel (uClinux version 2.4.20), uCLibc application development library, GNU development tools and utilities for the E1-32XS development board.
“Porting Linux to our single core RISC/DSP processor opens up a whole new world of applications, interfaces and drivers. With hyLinux our customers reduce their development cost to a minimum. Together with Hyperstone’s flexible business model of providing both, standard processor chips and macro cell or IP, customers can enter markets quickly and decrease cost during mass production later. Our customers have anxiously been expecting the introduction of hyLinux”, said Dr. Matthias Steck, VP Sales & Marketing at Hyperstone.
“We are happy to bring mainstream operating system support to the Hyperstone user community. hyLinux is a Linux kernel, able to run most - if not all, of the Linux applications. hyLinux leverages the investment in system development and adds flexibility in application development. Hyperstone users gain instant access to a wealth of royalty-free software applications. GDT will support hyLinux in every aspect and is open to collaborate with hyLinux users”, said Dr. Gregory Doumenis, Chief Technology Officer at GDT.
hyLinux is available for download from Hyperstone’s and GDT’s WEB sites and will be officially uploaded to the uCLinux site.
