GDA Technologies to provide design services for Advanced Switching based solutions
San Jose, California – October 1, 2003 - GDA Technologies, Inc., a fast growing supplier of Intellectual Property (IP) and Electronic Design Services (EDS), today announced that it has joined the Arapahoe Working Group (AWG) and is contributing to the development of the Advanced Switching (AS) specifications. GDA will also extend its system services including FPGA, boards and software designs for the next generation of Advanced Switching products based on ATCA platforms.
The Advanced Switching specification is an extension of PCI Express* interconnect technology. It adds advanced communications features to PCI Express technology in order to meet the requirements of the next generation of networking, storage and communications solutions.
“GDA's participation in Advanced Switching development is a natural progression of our leadership in providing services to PCI-Express based products," said Gopa Periyadan, vice president and GM of system and software business unit at GDA. "We look forward to offering our system services and helping to define the AS spec for the new architecture, which offers our networking and storage customers advanced communications features to meet the requirements of their next generation of products.”
“GDA’s involvement in the Advanced Switching development, along with that of other companies, will contribute in accelerating the adoption and proliferation of PCI Express-based interconnect technologies,” said Rajeev Kumar, AWG chair and Advanced Switching technology manager, Intel Communications Group. “Advanced Switching Technology offers the networking and communication industries opportunities to architect exciting and innovative products, while providing cost, reusability of technology and time-to-market benefits.”
GDA is a member of the Intel® Developer Network for PCI Express Architecture, PCISIG, Arapahoe Working Group and PICMG.
