ARC™ International Integrates MQX RTOS and RTCS TCP/IP Stack into Samsung’s Embedded Networking Platforms
Embedded Solution for Samsung’s ARM®-based S3C25xx Communications Processors Targets Router, WLAN and Firewall Markets
SAN JOSE, Calif., October 22, 2003 – ARC International (LSE: ARK), a world leader in user-customizable processors, silicon peripheral IP, real-time operating system and development tools for embedded system design, today unveiled a robust software support solution for Samsung’s high-performance, cost-effective, ARM-based S3C25xx communications processors. ARC is offering its MQX RTOS, RTCS TCP/IP networking stack, a variety of networking protocols, security software and USB device stack for engineers developing S3C25xx-based networking and communications applications for the router, WLAN and firewall markets.
“We are committed to providing our customers with a wide range of choices to help them quickly and easily develop their embedded applications with reduced costs and design risk,” said Dennis Kim, vice president of Samsung’s System LSI Division. “We are confident that ARC’s powerful software solutions enable developers to use the familiar environment to quickly incorporate high-speed connectivity and security into their embedded networking devices.”
Software support from ARC for the Samsung S3C25xx processors includes MQX RTOS, RTCS TCP/IP networking stack, IPShield™ security software for the on-chip encryption engine, USB device stack, flash file system, board support packages, and device drivers for the 10/100 Ethernet MAC and UART. ARC also provides complete embedded development tools including the MetaWare™ C/C++ Compiler, SeeCode™ Debugger, Instruction Set Simulator and IDE. Additionally, the Task Awareness Debugging (TAD) feature provides kernel and networking stack information available in the SeeCode pull-down menu during real-time debugging sessions. The MQX RTOS, RTCS TCP/IP network stack and development tools integration gives designers a complete out-of-box environment delivering a high-quality, interoperable embedded networks solution.
“The Samsung S3C25xx processor family is a highly integrated platform for developers creating systems that need to combine a range of connectivity such as Ethernet and USB in a single package,” said Bill Bernecki, vice president of software at ARC. “With our comprehensive, yet tightly integrated software support, such as RTOS, networking stack, security software and USB stack, embedded system developers can maximize the capabilities of the S3C25xx processor family to develop communications applications such as routers and gateways.”
Samsung’s multipurpose microprocessors are for communication applications and target the SOHO and residential router (wired, ADSL and WLAN), as well as the converged network server, IAD, and set-top box markets. All Samsung products have integrated communications interfaces such as Ethernet, USB, PCI, PC Card ISDN, HDLC, and UART. In addition, the company’s communication processors are configured with DES, ATM, SAR, Linux and Network Stack software. All Samsung communications processors are based on the ARM architecture and provide the high-performance, low-cost, power-efficient benefits of the industry-leading embedded RISC microprocessor technology.
