TTPCom signs agreement with leading Chinese manufacturer, Daxian Group
November 14, 2003 -- TTPCom, the world’s leading independent supplier of digital wireless technology and Daxian Group, a leading Chinese manufacturer of electronic consumer products, have signed an agreement for the development of a range of mobile phones based on TTPCom’s software. Daxian’s current product range includes audio and video products, network and communication products and key components, and this licensing deal with TTPCom will enable them to progress to the development and manufacture of mobile phones based on TTPCom’s platform. Daxian is currently focused on the Chinese mobile phone market, which is the world’s largest mobile phone market with over 200m subscribers, and in the future the company has plans to export its products worldwide.
Richard Fry, Sales and Marketing Director of TTPCom stated “Daxian have demonstrated a very strong commitment to succeed in the development of mobile phones and are building a great team of dedicated software engineers. The worldwide growth in the mobile phone market is attracting an increasing number of manufacturers and, with mobile phones representing one of the most complex consumer electronic products, it is important that new entrants work with a market leader such as TTPCom who fully understands the issues and can support them closely through product development, field testing and approvals.” He addd, “over 15 million phones using TTPCom’s technology have been sold in China this year alone, and with approvals on over 70 networks worldwide we are very well placed to assist Daxian in realising their ambitions of becoming a leading manufacturer of mobile phones”.
Li Shikuan, Vice General Manager of Daxian Group stated, “Daxian started its mobile phone business in 1999, and has established the Daxian brand in the Chinese mobile phone market. The mobile phone business is a strategic focus for the Daxian Group, which is determined to contribute to a revival of China’s Northeast Industrial base. TTPCom has established a very strong reputation through its longstanding involvement in the China market; we are very confident in their technology and intend to grow a significant mobile phone business based on TTPCom’s platforms. There is a huge market for mobile phones in China and to develop and manufacture our own handsets is a natural evolution for Daxian given our extensive experience in the manufacture of TV sets, display devices and related communications equipment”.
“TTPCom has been active in the China market for over 10 years now and we are fully committed to facilitating technology transfer and enabling local manufacturers to take on the whole process of designing and developing mobile phones, not only for sale in the Chinese market, but for export to Europe and North and South America,” explained Wang Yun, General Manager of TTPCom’s Shanghai office. “We offer all of our customers a dedicated level of technical support which is matched to their level of expertise in developing mobile phones and this serves to speed the whole development and integration process. Through our close working relationship we are able to determine the specific needs of our customers in China and we have developed a clear roadmap that takes them through from GSM products through GPRS and on to 3G. In addition we offer a flexible and wide range of applications that is completely integrated with our protocol software and makes it easy to enhance and differentiate the full range of products from entry level to high end smartphones”.
