Wipro Technologies launches its IEEE 802.11g IP solution for wireless connectivity
Bangalore, 25 November, 2003 - Wipro Technologies, the global IT services division of Wipro Limited (NYSE:WIT), announced the launch of the next generation ‘IEEE 802.11g’ standard based Intellectual Property (IP) solution for wireless connectivity. As a leading Wireless LAN IP and design services provider, Wipro will be participating in the Wi Fi Planet Conference and Expo, Fall 2003, to be held at San Jose, California, from December 3rd to 5th, 2003. Formerly titled 802.11 Planet, Wi-Fi Planet is slated to be the World’s largest Wi-Fi Business event. Wipro will be demonstrating its integrated 802.11g Baseband and MAC IP solution at the prestigious show. With multiple licensees in the Wireless LAN IP space, Wipro is amongst the market leaders in this segment.
“A superior end-to-end IP solution at competitive prices is what gives our customers the confidence to come to us when they are looking for wireless LAN IPs”, said Ramesh Emani, President, Embedded and Product Engineering Solutions, Wipro Technologies. “The Wireless LAN market is presently seeing a boom and with our solutions for all the three standards (IEEE 802.11a/b/g), we are well positioned to dominate the Wireless LAN IP segment,” he added.
Wipro’s comprehensive Wireless LAN IP portfolio comprises IPs for the IEEE 802.11 a, b and g basebands and the IEEE 802.11 a/b/g multimode MAC. “Wipro’s 802.11b/a/g basebands with customizable Radio and MAC interfaces have one of the lowest gate count implementations of the modem without sacrificing performance, thereby enabling a low cost high performance solution for its customers” said Uday Ramachandran, Group Head, Semiconductor Intellectual Property, Wipro Technologies. “Our MAC incorporates an optimum hardware-software partitioning for reduced gate count as well as lower MIPS requirements,” he added.
Wipro has developed vast expertise in the standards-based silicon intellectual property domain, a fact underlined by several IPs that span technologies including WLAN, 1394, USB and Ethernet. Wipro’s well-defined design and verification methodologies have inspired confidence in the most demanding of customers. All these translate to significant cost savings as well as help crash time to market thus enabling speedier concept-to-prototype solutions.
