Accent and SuperH partner for SoC design
Accent now able to offer SuperH based SoC design services
November 27, 2003 - SuperH, Inc., the leading supplier of multimedia RISC CPU cores and Accent S.r.l. today announced that the two companies will cooperate to offer advanced 32 and 64-bit SuperH CPU based system-on-chip (SoC) design services.
Both companies have identified that within Europe there is a market need for design service companies to deliver the next generation of multimedia SoC products to a range of fabless system, and IDM companies. Combining the multimedia RISC CPU IP and development tools from SuperH with Accent's proven IC design and software development capabilities will give customers access to world class SoC solutions. The partnership will ensure that Accent is able to deliver rapid design turnaround on SuperH based designs.
Karen Lamar, VP of Sales at SuperH, Inc. commented "Accent has a long established record in SoC design and partnering with them is a key part of strategy to deliver SoC design services to SuperH licensees."
Accent has a long history of designing high performance SoC devices incorporating 32-bit CPUs and can offer both technology porting and SoC design services. SuperH will make available the complete range of 32-bit SH-4 CPU cores and the 64-bit SH-5 cores together with its system IP including the SuperHyway on-chip interconnect, debug ports and peripherals such as UARTS, timers and interrupt controllers. For example the recently announced synthesizable SH4-500 integer CPU core will enable Accent to develop SoC products in a range of popular 0.18um and 0.13um technologies. The SH4-500 with its MAC/MUL unit is ideally suited to audio and speech applications where it can run a range of codecs entirely in software.
Massimo Vanzi, Accent's General Manager commented "Access to SuperH IP portfolio will be an important asset for our SoC strategy. There is a perfect fit between our design services and SuperH technology, making it a perfect combination for those customers requiring quick and secure access to high-performance embedded microprocessor technology."
