StarCore LLC Secures Third Round of Funding
Austin, TX – December 01, 2003 – StarCore LLC, the world’s fastest growing provider of licensable digital signal processor (DSP) technologies, has secured funding for fiscal year 2004 and is moving forward developing its next generation of DSP cores and platforms. Investment is led by Agere Systems Inc., Infineon Technologies AG and Motorola, Inc.
“Securing this latest round of funding puts us in a great position to finance continued development of new DSP products, expand our worldwide sales and marketing activities, and sign additional licensing agreements with new customers,” said Jacqueline Bergen, vice president and chief financial officer, StarCore LLC. “Our investors are impressed with our new products and have confidence in our business development activities and growth opportunities.”
On October 13, 2003, StarCore announced the SC1200 and SC1400 families of licensable DSP platforms for communications products that require high performance processing capabilities and low power consumption, such as 2.5G and 3G handsets, networking infrastructure and consumer electronics products such as PDAs. Industry leading companies that have licensed StarCore’s DSP technology include Infineon and Motorola, and StarCore’s customers have plans to introduce more than 20 StarCore DSP-based products to the market by 2005.
“The reasons why we’re enjoying rapid growth and ongoing success are clear,” says Tom Lantzsch, chief executive officer, StarCore LLC. “We strive to make the IP licensing and adoption process easier and simpler. We surround our products with an ecosystem of industry leading tools and software providers so our customers enjoy an easy technology integration process. And, a recent independent analysis has shown that our products are the highest performing licensable DSPs available [1].”
In addition to new product development, StarCore plans to use the funding to expand its sales and support organizations into Europe and Asia to better serve existing customers and win new accounts.
Financial details of the funding are not being disclosed.
