Green Hills Software Announces Royalty-Free CANbus Support for Its INTEGRITY Real-Time Operating System
Royalty-Free Combination Targets Automotive and Industrial Controls Markets
SANTA BARBARA, CA-December 29, 2003- Green Hills Software, Inc., the world-wide market leader in royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development tools, today announced the availability of a complete royalty-free CAN Application Developers Kit through its partnership with STEINHOFF Automation.
The developers' kit will initially be available for the Motorola Scalable Controller Area Network (MSCAN) architecture. This architecture is integrated on the mobileGT MPC5200 embedded processor and supported on both the lite5200 and Total5200 reference systems available from Motorola Semiconductor Product Sector.
The royalty-free CAN developers' kit consists of the CAN driver and C-API service call library for INTEGRITY along with several examples in source code. Both the driver and C-API are small and efficient. Support for CANopen with INTEGRITY can be made available upon request. STEINHOFF is planning additional CAN controller support for INTEGRITY as well.
"Worldwide, we are seeing a dramatic increase in Fieldbus requests for INTEGRITY RTOS support. As such we are pleased to make our DACHS product suite available to our mutual customers," said Jutta Steinhoff, marketing manager of STEINHOFF Automation. "We are also pleased to join the list of companies already part of the Green Hills INTEGRITY Partner Program."
"Green Hills Software is pleased to have STEINHOFF's mature CAN support available for INTEGRITY. The flexible, royalty-free licensing model will be a great value to our customers," said Dan Mender, INTEGRITY's director of business development.
INTEGRITY is a fast, deterministic RTOS designed for applications that require high reliability, small size and real-time responsiveness. Utilizing the hardware memory protection facilities of the processor's memory management units (MMU), INTEGRITY builds a firewall between the kernel and user tasks that prevents errant or malicious tasks from corrupting user data, the kernel, interprocess communications, device drivers and other user tasks.
INTEGRITY also enhances reliability and determinism by running with interrupts continuously enabled and guaranteeing access to the CPU and memory for critical tasks. This combination of high-reliability, fast, predictable response and royalty-free pricing makes INTEGRITY ideal for a broad range of applications that emphasize reliability, hard real-time performance and low-cost production.
INTEGRITY Features & Benefits:
- Royalty-free licensing eliminating per-unit costs
- Full access to kernel and board support source code giving developers more control and visibility into the software application
- True real-time performance with fast interrupt response
- Message passing architecture for reliable and high-performance inter-processor and inter-task communication
- Guaranteed memory and CPU availability enabling maximum reliability
- Fast kernel boot times in the low 10's of milliseconds
- Integration with Green Hills Software's MULTI Integrated Development Environment, optimizing compilers and Green Hills' JTAG hardware debug probes
- In-field monitoring and download enabling non-intrusive debugging and upgrades
- Complete integrated networking solutions for IPv4/v6, IPSec, Secure Web, firewall and more.
