Magma Announces Availability of "Magma-Ready" IP from Major IP Vendors
Large selection of IP products verified for use in the Magma design environment
SANTA CLARA, Calif., January 26, 2004 - Magma® Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq: LAVA), a provider of chip design solutions, today announced alliances with major intellectual property (IP) vendors to develop "Magma-Ready" products. These alliance members and MagmaTies partners have committed to providing synthesis and reference methodology support for soft IP products and verification of industry-standard views for hard IP products. With this level of support, Magma and its MagmaTies partners ensure that the IP products can be quickly integrated into their mutual customers' complex integrated circuit (IC) designs. In addition, these efforts will provide IC designers with a comprehensive IP portfolio for design deployment. "Magma-Ready" IP is available from Artisan, Denali, Mentor Graphics, Qualcore Logic, Rambus, SuperH, TriCN and Virage Logic.
"Many of our customers have already successfully implemented large, complex ICs using our alliance members' IP products," said Michael Ma, vice president of business development for Magma. "With these alliances and additional support, Magma and its partners are making it easier for our mutual customers to identify the IP products that are qualified for the Magma design environment and to achieve design success."
The "Magma Ready" IP Verification Process
Magma has designed comprehensive soft and hard IP verification processes to enable fast deployment of partner IP products in IC designs. Through the MagmaTies program, partners are given access to Magma software, allowing them to meet the necessary requirements. Soft IP providers can support Blast Create with industry-standard Verilog and VHDL formats and the most popular synthesis pragmas. They must also be able to import constraints and verify the quality of results (QoR), perform formal verification against a known good netlist, validate the timing using a static timing analyzer and create a script and documentation for the product. Hard IP providers must import the industry-standard views into the Magma design environment and check for logical and physical data consistency, check that the process rules are consistent, verify timing model compatibility, run routing feasibility analysis and run performance analysis to ensure QoR.
"Rambus and Magma are working together to address the challenging requirements of the high-performance, high- bandwidth IC market," said Jean-Marc Patenaude, director of marketing for the Rambus Logic Interface Division. "By relying on Rambus' system-proven RaSer serial interface IP, which is 'Magma-Ready,' chip developers are better able to meet their critical market windows."
"Mentor Graphics is committed to delivering high-quality IP products that are proven to work in advanced design flows. As IP functions grow in complexity and performance, it becomes vitally important to ensure design goals are met. We are pleased to be part of the 'Magma-Ready' program," said Michael Kaskowitz, general manager for the Mentor Graphics Intellectual Property division.
"We have collaborated to optimize and integrate our libraries with Magma's tools," said Neal Carney, vice president of marketing for Artisan. "Through our relationship, Magma Ready Artisan IP is available, bringing value to our mutual customers."
"We are in the process of delivering direct Magma support in our ASAP Logic™ Metal Programmable and Standard Cell Library products. In addition, we have verified that our entire product portfolio of silicon-proven IP is 'Magma Ready.' This includes the STAR Memory System™, NOVeA® and the ASAP Memory™ product lines as well as our Base I/O Library offering," said Jim Ensell, vice president of marketing at Virage Logic. "Together, Virage Logic's memory, logic and I/O products comprise a semiconductor IP platform that customers can confidently deploy into a Magma design environment today."
"An important and growing sector of TriCN's customer base uses Magma tools," said Ron Nikel, CTO of TriCN. "For this reason, we feel it's critical to ensure that our high-performance interface IP is compatible with the Magma tool suite."
