CoWare Opens New Facility in India to Address Growing Asia Pacific Market
Leading Electronic System Level Design Company Opens CoWare India Private Ltd. For System-Level Research and Development and IP Model Creation
SAN JOSE, Calif. and NOIDA, India,--February 23, 2004 -- CoWare, Inc., the leading supplier of system-level electronic design automation (EDA) software and services, announced the opening of CoWare India Private Ltd., its first facility in India, as a wholly owned subsidiary of CoWare, Inc. The facility—located in Noida, near New Delhi—will initially be responsible for R&D and system level IP model library creation for CoWare's electronic system level (ESL) design products. Alok Kumar, former director at Cadence Design Systems Inc., is managing director, reporting to CoWare vice president and general manager, Isaac Sundarajan.
"We opened this new facility in response to increased customer demand in the Asia Pacific region," said Alan Naumann, CoWare president and CEO. "We will work closely with our customers there to meet their ESL needs, and anticipate continued growth in the region. We are excited about leveraging the availability of top-level engineering talent and about setting up the premier system-level R&D development center in India, and hope to double the number of personnel in the office within the next 24 months."
The initial CoWare India team comes to CoWare from Cadence Design Systems, Inc., as part of the transfer of its SPW product line, through a transaction that was finalized in late 2003. The team will continue its work with SPW, and will expand to work on all CoWare development projects, including those for the CoWare ConvergenSC™ system level design solution, LISATek™ products, and IP model libraries for all CoWare products.
"We are continuing to work closely on combined ESL design flows with CoWare," said Jaswinder Ahuja, corporate vice president and managing director, Cadence Design Systems. "Our customers in the Asia Pacific region will benefit from the combined efforts of the two companies as the local teams continue to develop joint solutions." The combined solutions from Cadence and CoWare deliver a complete system-level design flow from architectural analysis through hardware/software system validation.
"Wipro Technologies has used the SPW tool extensively in its 802.11a/b/g baseband development for algorithm and fixed point analysis and optimization," said Mr. A Vasudevan, vice president – VLSI/system design, Wipro Technologies Limited. "SPW's capabilities have helped us in shrinking the design cycle time, while facilitating higher accuracy. We look forward to working with the CoWare India team in our future endeavors."
