Marvell Utilizes Legend’s CharFlo-Memory! to Automatically Characterize Both Compiled and Specialized Memory Instances
SANTA CLARA, California, U.S.A. – April 5, 2004 – Legend Design Technology, Inc. today announced that Marvell has adopted CharFlo-Memory! to characterize embedded memory instances for their next-generation SRAM, Register File and ROM requirements. Based upon layout-extracted circuit data with resistors and capacitors, Legend’s CharFlo-Memory! toolset has the capacity to generate accurate on-chip memory instance models at any PVT (process, voltage and temperature ) corner.
“Marvell’s plethora of high performance, cost effective SoC designs is supported by a wide selection of embedded compiled and customized memories which require high-quality timing and power models to achieve optimum performance and silicon success. Legend's CharFlo-Memory! has enabled us to automate the characterization process for both compiled and specialized memory instances. Legend’s ‘Bi-Section’ optimization is used to accurately characterize setup and hold time for best possible glitch-free operation.” said, Winston Lee, Design Engineering Manager at Marvell Semiconductor, Inc.
“Accurate timing and power modeling of embedded memories is essential for silicon success of deep-submicron and nanometer SOC design,” said Dr. You-Pang Wei, president and chief executive officer of Legend Design Technology. “With the adoption of Legend’s CharFlo-Memory!, Marvell has acquired the premier solution for memory characterization and modeling. We’re pleased to be working closely with Marvell to meet their needs for accurate, efficient, and cost-effective memory characterization.”
About Legend Design Technology, Inc.
Legend Design Technology, Inc. is a leading provider of characterization and simulation software for semiconductor Intellectual Property (IP) blocks in the SoC designs. With an emphasis on productivity and value, Legend’s CharFlo-Memory! toolset, which includes MSL, SpiceCut and MemChar, revolutionizes the time consuming and error prone processes associated with characterization. MSL is designed to automate memory characterization flow with customized setup of '.Lib-in and .Lib out'. SpiceCut is used to automatically build critical-path circuits to reduce simulation time for characterization, especially from post-layout extracted circuits with resistors and capacitors. MemChar is the core engine to automatically characterize the memories and generate the ‘true’ timing and power models. MSIM is a high accuracy SPICE circuit simulator with post-layout RC reduction capability. Turbo-MSIM is Legend’s high-speed and high-capacity circuit simulator ideal for timing and power simulation, and function verification. They are well architected for deep-submicron and nanometer technology challenges. Both simulators provide excellent price-performance and great value.
