ChipIdea announces new Analog Front-Ends for Digital Media Applications
Update: MIPS Technologies Acquires Chipidea (August 27, 2007)
Tagus Park (Porto Salvo, Portugal) -- May 10, 2004 -- ChipIdea Microelectrónica, S.A., a leading analog and mixed-signal IP and SoC solutions provider, announces the development of a new family of Video AFE Interfaces for Digital TV and PC-Graphics with Flat Panel Displays (see CI7374tg, CI7375tg at www.chipidea.com).“Both CI7374tg and CI7374tg are sub-system IP Cores that implement the complete AFE interface for Flat Panel Displays. They are designed in TSMC 0.18 µm CMOS and can be ported to other processes in the same technology nodes” said Dr. Carlos Azeredo Leme, CTO of ChipIdea.
The Video AFE interfaces capture the analog RGB or YUV graphic signals generated either on a PC or other devices, and convert them into three 8-bit digital words at a rate of up to 160MSPS (CI7374tg) and 210 MSPS (CI7375tg).
The Video AFE supports composite synchronism separation, and SOG extraction. An integrated PLL uses the extracted HSYNC to generate a low jitter, programmable phase, sampling clock suitable for all the common display resolutions and refresh ratios.
The large analog input bandwidth and the programmable selection of the sampling clock phase ensures that each pixel is acquired when data is stable.
The Video AFE features a preamplifier with programmable gain and offset, a programmable Clamp (including midscale clamping) and internal bandgap reference to ease its integration in a system.
Both CI7374tg and CI7375tg sub-system IP Cores are designed for low power dissipation <280mA for CI7374tg and <350mA for CI7375tg.
