Accelerated Technology's Nucleus RTOS Now Available for Applications Built with the New ARM11 Cores
MOBILE, Ala., May 11, 2004 - Accelerated Technology®, the Embedded Systems Division of Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT), today announced a new release of the Nucleus® real-time operating system (RTOS) for developers using the ARM11TM family of processors. Responding to the needs of system-on-chip (SoC) developers, Accelerated Technology (AT) has provided a Nucleus software solution for the ARM1136J-S and ARM1136JF-S processor cores, members of the ARM11 family of processors.
This Nucleus software release will give embedded developers using the ARM11 family of processors a solution in which to build a wide range of consumer, wireless and networking applications such as set-top boxes, digital cameras, 2.5 and 3G mobile phones, voice-over-IP (VoIP) infrastructure equipment, broadband modems, residential gateways, WLAN access points and security devices.
The Nucleus PLUS kernel, the basis for the Nucleus RTOS family of products, is solid and flexible, ideal for the feature-rich capabilities that customers require from their highly reliable applications. The reliability of the Nucleus PLUS kernel, the breadth of middleware available and the high performance features have made the Nucleus PLUS kernel a widely accepted source code, royalty-free RTOS solution. Also available in this initial release is the Nucleus SHELL application that allows an ASCII terminal to be opened over a serial port as well as a TCP/IP protocol stack and file management software.
"The Nucleus RTOS, coupled with quality tools from both ARM and Accelerated Technology, provides a high degree of visibility into the complex world of today's high-performance consumer entertainment and wireless applications based on the ARM11 core family," said Rod Crawford, ARM's OS Awareness product manager.
"Accelerated Technology has worked closely with ARM to offer complete RTOS solutions for their customers. The ARM processors dominate markets that need low powered processors in large volumes. These same markets are an ideal match for the source code, no-royalty business model of our Nucleus RTOS," said Robert Day, director of marketing, Mentor Graphics Embedded Systems Division.
Pricing and Availability
The Nucleus embedded software is sold with source code and without royalty fees. Licenses for the Nucleus software begin at $12,495 US. For more information, please contact Accelerated Technology at 800-468-6853 or info@acceleratedtechnology.com.
