Sequence Validates MSIM from Legend Design for Accuracy of Power and Signal Integrity Analysis
Santa Clara, CA – May 26, 2004 - Legend Design Technology, Inc announced today that Sequence, an EDA pioneer in power and signal integrity analysis, has used the company’s MSIM circuit simulator to validate the accuracy of standard cells used in power and signal integrity analysis.
MSIM is a matrix-inversion based circuit simulator with optimized algorithms and extensive modeling support. Compared to the leading Spice simulator, MSIM is from 2 to 5 times faster, and is within 1% of Spice accuracy. MSIM supports a range of models from all foundries, including BSIM3, BSIM4 and SOI. For 90nm technology, the BSIM4 model that includes enhanced stress effects or LOD modeling is critical for both timing and power simulation, especially in efforts to reduce leakage power. The MSIM circuit simulator with BSIM4.3.0 has delivered silicon-accurate results on 90nm designs.
“Qualifying standard cell libraries with the MSIM circuit simulator has improved the quality of power and signal integrity analysis,” said Susheel Chandra, senior vice president of R&D and product marketing at Sequence Design. “We have also seen productivity improvements as a result of the high simulation speed of MSIM. We look forward to working with Legend Design to ensure that our customers receive the highest quality models and design tools.”
Sequence plans to integrate MSIM with the company’s Electrical Modeler, ElMo, that characterizes standard cells for instantaneous currents, voltage derated timing and glitch propagation.
“MSIM has once again proven its value not only in design verification, but also in library characterization, especially for deep-submicron and nanometer technology.” said Dr. You-Pang Wei, president and chief executive officer of Legend Design Technology. “Sequence’s validation of MSIM on their leading power and signal integrity analysis tools will greatly benefit standard cell designers.”
