Rheinmetall Defence contract RF Engines for complex Signal Processing Design
Specific details of the application are restricted, however the contract relates to the supply and integration of a complex high-speed FPGA signal processing design for an advanced communications system being developed by RDE.
The customised System-on-Chip design will be developed and based upon RFEL’s unique range of specialist architectures, and the contract includes the proving and integration of the design into the system hardware. The contract runs over several months and is scheduled for completion in Summer 2004.
John Summers, RFEL’s VP for Sales and Business Development commented, “We are very pleased to be working with RDE on such a major programme. RFEL has a lot of experience at both the system and at the chip level in this sort of communications monitoring application, and so it’s a particularly interesting and enjoyable project. RDE has a very clear vision of what is required, so consequently the teams work together extremely well.”
Jürgen Prüsse, Marketing Director for RDE commented, “This is an important project which is technically challenging across all elements of the design. We are confident that we will deliver the most advanced system of its type to our customer on schedule, and also have great confidence in the supply of the key technologies to complement our in-house skills. RFEL has proven capabilities in this highly specialist area, and we look to the sort of long-term relationship with the company, that we have developed over many years with our other key suppliers.”
