I&C Technology Licenses LSI Logic ZSP400 Core for Digital Broadcasting Products

MILPITAS, Calif., July 19, 2004 - LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE: LSI) today announced that I&C Technologies Co., Ltd., a Korean-based developer of semiconductor solutions for digital broadcast receivers, has licensed the ZSP400 digital signal processor (DSP) core for use in multiple digital audio and multimedia broadcasting applications. By licensing the ZSP400 core, I&C Technologies now has a well-balanced cost and performance solution with the software compatibility needed to serve the growing market of digital broadcast receivers that are rapidly replacing current analog receivers. DSP technology is critical in achieving high-quality digital broadcasting reception over terrestrial, satellite and cable networks.
The home entertainment market is evolving rapidly, creating multiple standards, new features and improved audio and video quality and resolution, said Chang-Il Park, CEO and president, I&C Technologies. By licensing the ZSP400, we are able to get to market quickly with solutions that can scale to address the changing audio and multimedia broadcasting market where the move to digital has taken hold. I&C Technologies required a proven and reliable DSP processing solution to enable them to implement their advanced audio and video systems faster and LSI Logic was able to meet their needs with the ZSP400 core complete with comprehensive multimedia software suites, said Tuan Dao, vice president of LSI Logics DSP Division. In addition toI&C Technologies, LSI Logic has signed several ZSP licensing agreements in Asia including UTStarcom, Datang Microelectronics, AVID Electronics Corp, Socle Technology and ICC, confirming the ZSP processor as the licensable DSP of choice. Other world-class companies such as Broadcom, Conexant, IBM, Skyworks and VIA Telecom are also among publicly announced licensees of the ZSP architecture.
