Beach Solutions announces the availability of Embedded Application System Interface™ (EASI) Technology for Parthus' MediaStream platform
19th March 2001 - Beach Solutions today announced the availability of Embedded Application System Interface™ (EASI) technology for Parthus' MediaStream platform. Beach Solutions is a new technology driver for Embedded Systems development tools for design translation and generation. The Parthus variant of EASI-GEN tools generates program code optimized for Parthus' DSP cores.
Using Beach Solution's EASI-GEN™ (EASI GENerator) tools, attributes of the interfaces to all programmable peripheral blocks in any embedded system are captured in a single database. A number of easily maintainable data views required can then be automatically generated. These include comprehensive and documented C libraries for test and firmware development, hardware reference manuals, and bus interfaces in both VHDL and Verilog. Automating the creation of these views gives immense savings in design engineering resources, support effort and time. As all views are derived from one common source, design consistency is assured. This avoids the problems frequently introduced at the hardware-software interface using traditional manual methods.
A further tool called EASI-Programmer™ (EASI-P™) gives a structured access to the generated C libraries, enabling rapid development of device drivers and application software.
EASI Tools are useful for hardware developers performing block or system design and test, software developers wanting a clean, reliable programming interface to hardware devices, and those creating design documentation. The tools are suitable for PLD, ASIC, ASSP and standard product embedded designs.
"We are pleased to be able to support Parthus and its customers with this latest technology," said Terry McCloskey, CEO of Beach Solutions, "these new tools will significantly enhance the effectiveness of any design engineer employing Parthus' Intellectual Property."
"Parthus is pleased to support the efforts of Beach Solutions to develop tools that help us deliver market-ready platforms in a timely fashion, " said Sean Mitchell, general manager, InfoMedia Business Unit. "We are committed to delivering a full suite of platform-level intellectual property that powers next generation mobile Internet devices."
