Magma Adds ChipIdea to Growing List of ''Magma-Ready'' IP Providers
New MagmaTies Partner Offers Rich Portfolio of Silicon-Proven, Analog and Mixed Signal Cores
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 21, 2004 -- Magma(R) Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq:LAVA), a provider of chip design solutions, today announced that ChipIdea Microelectronica, S.A., a leading analog and mixed-signal intellectual property (IP) and system-on-chip (SoC) solutions provider, has joined the MagmaTies program. As an IP provider in the MagmaTies program, ChipIdea will take its cores through the "Magma-Ready" IP verification process. This will ensure that ChipIdea's cores can be integrated into mutual customers' SoC designs.
"We are excited to be a Magma-Ready IP partner because we are seeing growing adoption of Magma tools in the market. The well-defined 'Magma-Ready' IP verification process enables our engineering team to easily verify that our products can be deployed seamlessly into the Magma design environment," said Luis Miguel Sampaio, vice president of IP Connectivity Solutions and General Manager of ChipIdea's Digital Technology Center.
"ChipIdea offers a rich portfolio of silicon-proven analog and mixed-signal cores," said Michael Ma, vice president of Foundry and IP Relationships for Magma. "The availability of Magma-Ready versions of their cores will be beneficial to mutual customers that are developing mixed-signal SoCs."
The "Magma Ready" IP Verification Process
Magma has designed comprehensive soft and hard IP verification processes to enable fast deployment of partner IP products in IC designs. Through the MagmaTies program, partners are given access to Magma software, allowing them to meet the necessary requirements. To qualify, hard IP providers such as ChipIdea must import industry-standard views into the Magma design environment and check that logical and physical data and process rules are consistent. Timing model compatibility must be verified, and routing feasibility and performance analyses must be run to ensure quality of results.
