Cherry Corporation chooses Nordic Semiconductor 2.4GHz RF devices, nRF2401 and nRF2402 for their new mouse/keyboard solution
The traditional PC with its peripherals as known from the offices and workroom space has evolved into a multi-media central of the home. This necessitates the need for longer range compared to what is offered by current 27MHz technology. The nRF24XX 2,4GHz RF solutions from Nordic matches the price level of existing solutions and at the same time offers a significant increase in effective range and likewise a decrease in power consumption, extending the battery life time.
The new Cherry Corporation mouse/keyboard solution will be released to the market Q1 2005.
"One of the most important points for a battery powered RF product is the power consumption. Because of the CMOS technology and the ShockBurstTM feature, the nRF24XX 2.4GHz solution can be used for ultra low power designs. In addition to this, only a few inexpensive external components must be added to the RF device, which makes the PCB design less critical. For a company with development and production in Europe, it is important to have technical support within the same time zone" says Hans-Jürgen Hanft, Computer Input Devices, Cherry.
"We have managed to establish Nordic as the market leader with respect to current consumption in the 2.4GHz RF market. The mouse/keyboard segment is one the most competitive and demanding consumer segments. The fact that a leading company like Cherry Corporation has chosen Nordic for their new mouse/keyboard solution proves that Nordic fulfil the requirements set by the key players in this market" says Roger Pedersen, Regional Sales Manager at Nordic Semiconductor ASA.
