Oki Semiconductor Introduces New ML696200 Family of ARM9-Powered Microcontrollers
With the debut of the 6200 family, Oki Semiconductor is continuing its commitment to providing customers with an affordable, mid-range 32-bit MCU design for a variety of consumer and industrial applications. The 6200 Advantage Microcontroller family offers new and existing customers a rich set of integrated features, including high-speed USB 2.0 interface, Ultra-DMA66 hard drive controller (ATA), and a Smart Media controller, giving designers an easy-to-integrate, high-performance upgrade option for a range of products including external data storage, printers, plotters, and digital cameras, among others.
Featuring the ARM946E-S™ architecture, the new 6201 and 6203 are the first high-speed USB 2.0 MCUs with integrated MAC/PHY, boasting 128KB of internal SRAM memory and a complete range of I/O peripherals.
The ML696200 family builds on the success of Oki's growing line of ARM-based Advantage Microcontrollers, offering designers an industry-standard MCU platform with strong industry support, including a growing number of out-of-the box software applications and a wide variety of tools and software from third-party vendors. Moreover, Oki's Advantage Microcontrollers provide customers with a more comprehensive feature set, greater ease and flexibility of integration, and the performance required for today's demanding applications.
Oki's 6201 and 6203 Advantage Microcontrollers
The 6200 series of microcontrollers are Oki's first ARM9-based products to include a high-speed USB 2.0 and Ultra-DMA66 ATA interfaces. Additional features include 128 KB of internal SRAM, 8KB of D and I Caches, and an interface that will allow for the connection of external FLASH, SRAM, SDRAM and external peripherals such as Ethernet controllers. This feature set makes the 6200 series of Advantage Microcontrollers ideal for such applications as USB or Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices. The 6203 microcontroller also features 512KB of built-in FLASH memory.
"Today's announcement of our ML696200 Advantage Microcontrollers marks our continued commitment to expanding our product line and supplying ARM-based MCUs, tools, and software to the broader embedded world," said David Pelavin, director of marketing, Oki Semiconductor. "As the first OEM supplier to offer ARM-based MCUs with such a comprehensive set of features and software system resources, we are enabling designers to develop products that meet the stringent requirements of today's consumer."
Key features of the ML696200 Advantage Microcontroller family include:
- High-performance ARM946E-S RISC CPU
- USB 2.0 high-speed device controller
- Ultra-DMA66 interface
- 128 KB on-board SRAM, 16 KB internal Boot ROM, and 512 KB Flash ROM (ML69Q6203)
