Fujitsu Siemens Computers Signs Licensing Agreement to Access picoTurbo Embedded RISC Microprocessor Cores
Milpitas, California - February 28, 2001 - picoTurbo, Inc., a premier developer of 16/32-bit RISC microprocessor cores for embedded applications, and Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European computer company, announced today a licensing agreement giving Fujitsu Siemens Computers access to picoTurbo microprocessor technology. Fujitsu Siemens Computers is licensing picoTurbo?s pT-100 and pT-110 microprocessor cores, which they will utilize in SOCs (System on Chip) for their advanced product lines. The cores are 32-bit, proven, high-performance, low-power cores.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers will have access to two of the most popular microprocessor cores in the picoTurbo family of cores. Both highly featured, the pT-100 contains a five-stage pipeline for one instruction/cycle and code compression, among many others. In addition to the aforementioned features, the pT-110 contains a built-in cache controller. A new class of digital applications in several of the Fujitsu Siemens Computers? product lines, ranging from notebooks to mainframes, will be enabled by these core microprocessor solutions. New products will also be developed.
"We are delighted that Fujitsu Siemens Computers has selected picoTurbo cores," said Chip Stearns, CEO and President of picoTurbo, Inc. "By combining Fujitsu Siemens? leadership in computing platforms with picoTurbo?s microprocessor technology, the result will provide unique and powerful solutions for their advanced projects. Fujitsu Siemens Computers? commitment is an affirmation of the value of picoTurbo?s RISC processors for SOC designs."
Klaus Brosche, Vice President, Competence Center Volume Products at Fujitsu Siemens Computers, stated, "The picoTurbo RISC processors meet our requirements for embedded applications very well. They will provide optimized SOC solutions when combined with our advanced IC design. We will now be able to create highly integrated devices for many applications throughout Fujitsu Siemens Computers product lines using the picoTurbo cores."
