Green Hills Software and ARC International Announce MULTI Development Environment and Debug Probe Support for Configurable ARC Processors
"Our partnership with Green Hills Software is another example of how ARC provides its customers with a complete design environment comprised of industry-standard tools and software from leading vendors," said Derek Meyer, vice president of marketing at ARC. "The combination of Green Hills Software's MULTI IDE and debug probes with ARC's ARCangel prototyping system and MetaWare C compiler, gives engineers a powerful, tightly integrated system for developing sophisticated applications. The results are reduced total cost of ownership and faster time to market parameters for customers leveraging this optimized platform."
"We have expanded our product line to service the growing number of customers using ARC's leading-edge configurable technology," said Craig Franklin, vice president of advanced products at Green Hills Software. "Working with ARC, our engineering teams have produced a world-class development environment that has been customized and tuned for the ARC processor. This solution is already being adopted by customers, resulting in optimized end products."
The MULTI IDE provides a graphical environment for ARC™ software development in Windows, Linux or UNIX environments. ARC targets, including the ARCangel evaluation board, can be accessed through the following interfaces:
- Bare Board Access (no RTOS or ROM monitor) – Targets connected through JTAG headers on the board. ARC boards are supported with the Green Hills probe and Slingshot debug device.
- Custom RTOS support – Kernel and multitask-aware debugging for ARC boards running Express Logic's ThreadX RTOS. Special commands allow tasks to be stopped upon system events such as task creation.
ARC 600 and ARC 700 Cores
The ARC 600 core is optimized to deliver high performance in a small silicon area with minimal power consumption. The ARC 700 core is the smallest 32-bit 400 MHz processor available today, and supports complex applications with an MMU and processing modes that enable feature-rich and secure operating systems. Both the ARC 600 and ARC 700 cores are DSP-enhanced and eliminate the need for additional signal processing engines.
