Faraday successfully cracks the Ethernet 10/100 niche market
Faraday founds a success in the new niche market with volume productions of its Ethernet-based ICs
HSINCHU Taiwan and SUNNYVALE CA, January 12, 2005 -- Ever since the home networking began to evolve from the traditional 10/100 Ethernet to wireless, the IEEE802.11 wirelessLAN standard is rapidly becoming the mainstream technology today. However, the emergence of the wireless technology also resulted in the fearsome competition among the wireless application vendors. As a result, the traditional 10/100 Ethernet is able to find a new niche market outside the PC world, namely in the areas of warehouse management, industry control, and industrial equipment automation. The adoption is mainly because 10/100 Ethernet is known to be reliable, secured and safe, which so many of the applications depend. For years, Faraday's customers have been utilizing our expertise in ASIC design flow and a complete portfolio of reusable high-speed I/Os to develop their own state-of-the-art applications quickly and efficiently. Consequently, our customers were able to position themselves as market leaders in their respective field and at the same time maintaining a profitable margin at lower development cost.
Faraday's Ethernet 10/100 volume production is based on our matured Ethernet 10/100 PHY, FEP110H 90A manufactured in the UMC's 0.25µm process. Unlike the standard applications that heavily rely on the process technology to stay competitive and to maintain their profit margins, the niche ASIC product's design and development are based on matured IPs and hence be able to excel in both design creativity as well as profit margins.
Faraday Technology Corporation was rated as the world's third largest provider of Bus Interface IP in 2003 by Dataquest. Our comprehensive high speed I/Os include PHYs, Controllers, Application layers and support drivers for USB2.0, Serial ATA, Ethernet, and PCI-Express, etc. With our ability to provide solutions on the complex compatibility and interoperability issues, Faraday is the right choice for IC and system design houses.
