Magma Selects Legend's MSIM as Simulation Engine and Integrates into RTL-to-GDSII Design Flow
The integration delivers excellent performance, stability and consistency
SANTA CLARA, Calif., January 25, 2005 – Legend Design Technology Inc., a provider of IP characterization and circuit simulation software, today announced that Magma Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq: LAVA), a provider of chip design solutions, has selected MSIM circuit simulator as the simulation engine of its software system, and successfully integrated MSIM engine into its RTL-to-GDSII design flow. MSIM circuit simulator has been well proven by its excellent accuracy, speed and convergence, especially for nanometer designs.“For predictable timing results and signal integrity, Magma’s software system will execute lots of circuit simulations 'on the fly' in RTL-to-GDSII design flow. The conventional interfaces between two standalone software tools are loose and inefficient. To enhance the performance, stability and consistency, Magma and Legend have tightly integrated MSIM engine into Magma's software system. This tight integration through sophisticated API has been successfully implemented and verified in actual design environments,” said Premal Buch, general manager of the Analysis Products Business Unit at Magma.
“MSIM has proven its value as a simulation engine in Magma’s software system. We are very pleased to deliver excellent performance, stability and consistency in the product integration. The integrated flow, combining tool sets from Magma and Legend, provides excellent quality of results (QoR) for the deep-submicron and nanometer semiconductor designs,” said Dr. You-Pang Wei, president and chief executive officer of Legend Design Technology, Inc.
