Wipro Selects MIPS(r) Architecture to Offer Global SoC Design Services
Leading Design Services Company to Support Customers Using MIPS Technologies' 32- and 64-bit Processor Cores
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA and BANGALORE, INDIA, February 8, 2005 - MIPS Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:MIPS) a leading provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer and business applications, and Wipro Technologies, the global IT services division of Wipro Ltd. (NYSE: WIT) today announced that Wipro has licensed the MIPS32(r) 4KEc(tm) and the MIPS64(r) 5Kf(tm) synthesizable cores to support joint customers with end-to-end SoC design services.
Wipro's services will range from RTL through GDSII, in addition to platform-based designs and point services such as SoC architecture development, front-end design, integration and verification. The agreement enables embedded design engineers using MIPS-Based(r) technology to lower their product development costs and speed time-to-market by using Wipro's comprehensive range of SoC design services.
"The challenge of creating a complex, competitive SoC design while controlling development costs is leading many manufacturers to outsource some or all of their product development," said A. Vasudevan, Vice President, VLSI Group, Wipro Technologies. "At Wipro, we can help customers rapidly take their product from concept to market while making the most of the MIPS architecture and high-performance processor cores."
"Customers who use MIPS-Based technology and choose to outsource development of their high-performance, low-power embedded designs will find an excellent solution in Wipro's world-class SoC design expertise. Wipro's full range of design services increases our customers' productivity and reduces time-to-market," said Jack Browne, Vice President, Worldwide Sales, MIPS Technologies.
Wipro Technologies is one of the world's largest independent providers of embedded and product engineering services. Wipro's VLSI team offers high end ASIC development, complex FPGA and board designs, turnkey system designs and core technology IP blocks.
